The Adam Smith of Hawaii

DSLR Film making. Story telling. Hawaii.

Here’s the video I shot of the 1st ever Association of Hawaii Beach Volleyball Players that went down this weekend. Organized by my good friend Jay Whalen.

AVP legend Stein Metzger was in town to play with his partner Alika Williams. They took 1st for the mens. And local favorites Tina Damasco and Linda Nelson won the womens division.

Hawaii’s New Beach Volleyball Association

The Association of Hawaii Volleyball Players was created earlier this year. The first tournament was fantastic, with a great range of men’s and women’s beach players battling it out at Queen’s beach in Waikiki. AVP legend Stein Metzger and his partner Alika Williamns won the men’s open division and young phenom Tina Damasco and her veteran partner Linda Nelson took the womens.

The next scheduled tournament is a Co-Ed with an Open division (advanced players) and an A division (intermediate players) Sunday March 6, starting at 8am at Queens Beach.

If you’d like to register or setup an interview, contact the tournament director Jay Whalen

Beach volleyball has a long and important history in Hawaii. Duke Kahanamoku was an early player, and helped make popularize it. We’ve also bred a lot of volleyball talent that have moved on to play in the Olympics and AVP.
